TOOLS FOR VIEWING AND NAVIGATION:
Ø HAND TOOL:
The hand tool drags the images so that different position of it can be seen. It is helpful for scrolling through an image that is too large to fit in the active window. The hand tool can be accessed by pressing the space bar.
Ø ZOOM TOOL:
The Zoom tool can be used to change the magnification of the image see the zoom tool and click anywhere to increase the magnification: the spot clicked becomes the new centre point of the zoomed image. The zoom tool has three buttons-actual pixels, fit on screen and print size that is used for resizing.
Ø MEASURE TOOL:
This tool is used to make two parts of the image aligned. After you choose the measure tool click the cursor to create a starting point and drag to the ending point. Holding down shift will restrain the measure tool to angle of 45 degree increments.
Ø NOTES TOOL:
This is a way to attach a message or caption to an image before forwarding it to someone else when you select this tool you can attach a small message window to the image and begin typing.
Ø AUDIO ANNOTATION TOOL:
This tool is used to record a personal massage and embed it in your file. Click where in your image you want the animation icon to be placed. Click on record and speak in microphone. When completed, click stop button and then click save.
SELECTION TOOLS:
Ø MARQUEE TOOL:
When the marquee tool is selected, the cursor will change to cross hair. Clicking your image creates a starting point for selection and you can drag pointer in any direction to enlarge selection area.
Rectangle marquee tool to make rectangle selection. Elliptical marquee to make elliptical selection. Single row (or) column marquee tool to define the borders are 1 pixel wide.
Ø CROP TOOL:
With the crop tool you can select a part of an image and discard the remainder. This is useful if you have scanned a large image but want a smaller portion. The crop tool gives corner handle so that you can adjust size and shape your selection.
Ø LASSO TOOL:
The lasso tool and the polygon lasso tool let you draw both straight edge and free hand segment of a selection border. The magnetic lasso tool is useful for quickly selection objects with complex edges set against high contrast backgrounds.
Ø MAGNETIC WAND TOOL:
With the magnetic tool, you can select areas of your image based on colors they contain magic wand is great to use if your need to select paths of image bounded by border in a contrasting color. You can set the tolerance level to make the selection very specific.
Ø MOVE TOOL:
You can use the move tool to reposition the image selection with great precision. To move the selected pixels, choose the move tool immediately after you make the selection.

The pen tool and its variations are used for creating paths. It is used to create smooth and straight flowing curves. When you draw a straight path you click to select the anchor points. When you draw a curve, you drag in the direction you want.

The sponge tool is selectively affects the contrast level in portions of your image. It changes the colour saturation of the image.
