Study of Macromedia Flash 8.0 [CS1255 - Graphics and Multimedia Lab]

AIM:

To study about the features and tool of macromedia flash 8.0 for creating the multimedia application in CS1255 - Graphics and Multimedia Lab.

TIMELINE:

Timeline is one of the essential parts of the flash interface. Flash stages have height and width. Flash movie has vertical dimension-time. The movie has degree of the user interaction and changes the way they run based on the user choice. It starts when pages are opened and finishes if you exit the web page.

FRAMES:

The top-most part of the timeline is divided into number of segments and there are corresponding divisions in the next time down, consists of group of white rectangle separated by grey rectangles. Each of these boxes on the second line is called frames. The number on the line gives the frame number sequence.

KEYFRAMES:

A key frame indicates that something important action happens at that point in timeline i.e. where it is located. Key frame are marked in time. In flash, start and end points are defined by key frames.

BLANK KEY FRAME:

A blank key frame is a type of key of frame that has no content in it. It is independent of the content pf the key frame that is preceding it.

LAYERS:

In flash, layers are shown at left of the timeline. Here layers are equivalent to separate sheets of acetate alter and for reaches of content generally layers1 is the default layer.

LAYER MODES:

Layers mode defines to view and affect specific layers in authoring environment. In flash, there are three default modes. In it they in ‘OFF’ condition.

Ø SHOW/HIDE:

For show, the content will be shown and for the hidden mode its content will disappeared from the stage in the authoring environment.

Ø LOCK/UNLOCK:

If the layer is locked, we cannot draw (or) select objects on it but the layer is still visible. If the layer is unlocked, we can modify the content as our wish.

Ø SHOW ALL LAYERS ON OUTLINES:

This layer allows to display all objects on a layer as outlines only rather than as filled shapes.

ARROW TOOL:

Arrow tool is used to select objects on the stage for editing and to move and place those selected objects just where it is needed. It may be important tool in flash.

SYMBOL TYPES:

Symbol is the most basic level thing in flash that can be used time and time again.

Eg: Interactive button, mini-movie, etc. There are types of symbols.

Ø GRAPHICS SYMBOLS:

Graphics symbols are a symbol whose content remains static. They are used for static images throughout the movie, if we are going to use an object over and over again.

Ø BUTTON SYMBOL:

Button symbol is the essential feature of any interactive web-site design. They also used as menu for site navigation interface. We can easily create buttons in flash and include them in movies. They are important because it lets into the world of true activity.

Ø MOVIE CLIP SYMBOL:

When movie clip symbol is added on stage, we can add movie clips timeline. When flash finds this interface i.e. instance, it digs down to the symbol and play the content that if finds encapsulates in the symbols internal timeline. In another way they are the children of the main movie.

CONCLUSION:

Thus the features and tools of macromedia flash 8.0 for creating the multimedia application has been studied in CS1255 - Graphics and Multimedia Lab.
